Igbo woman killed in Kano was provoked by her killer – CAN

The Northern chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), on Sunday, reacted to the gruesome murder of Bridget Agbahime by angry Muslim youths in Kano for blaspheming Prophet Mohammed.

The christian body described as unacceptable and barbaric while urging the Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi, to call their people to order.

CAN also questioned why such barbaric acts always occur in Kano.

Public Relations Officer of Northern CAN, Reverend John Hayab, said, “Why must it always be Kano State. This is not telling good of the state known to be a commercial city.”

“We got it on good authority that the slained woman never blasphemed the Prophet Mohammed. That the mastermind of the killing, was fond of always provoking the deceased and so, on that fateful day, we learnt, the said man was doing ablution in front of the woman’s shop and was cautioned. That was all. The man raised the alarm that she blasphemed Prophet Mohammed.”

“The man deliberately provoke the woman in question just to carry out that gruesome and barbaric acts.”

“We are saying the mere arrest of the key suspect of this barbaric act was not enough. All those that perpetuated the killing of the innocent woman must be fished out and brought to book.”

“The state government must go further than this and the Emir of Kano and all well- meaning citizens of Kano must come out and condemned it. This is not telling good of the area(Kano).”

“We are committed to peace and stability of this country. We can’t understand why our people should killed on flimsy excuse(s).”

  1. I grew up in this part of the country (kano) and to be sincere with you, the value for human life is at its lowest. a state where the orientation of most people(indigenes) is that death is the ultimate justice for any slight misunderstanding.
The earlier the government officials and security personnel start bringing perpetrators of funny acts to book, the better for us all. Cos these boys go about with weapons(daggers and short knives) all round the clock, day in and day out and our security operatives see them and turn blind eyes whenever they are nabbed for any/ other crimes.
this is not only in the north but any part of the country where you find these northerners. It has now become a brand for them to be self protective with these weapons at any time forgetting the fact that we are in a very much civilized era. They are so boldened by these small things they hide underneath their dresses or under their wheel barrows which they use for conveying goods (means of livelihood)
Can the government pass a bill against these weapons clearly with strict penalties in place so as to checkmate the excesses of these people since they wear it openly on themselves as though were a piece of pen.
at times i wonder the kind of thoughts that emanates from some of these people as they are very good and prompt in “acting before asking”. Its a lifestyle for them to cook up instigating statements that is capable of sparking off uproar in any vicinity they dominate. A lot on my mind, how i wish i could go on. Am trying to be calm.
Its time we wake up and say NO to these barbaric Acts. THE SECURITY OFFICERS, THE ARMS OF GOVERNMENT CONCERNED, AND EVEN THE PRESIDENCY should sincerely look into the misdeeds going on in this part of the country and call the involved parties to order. Enough of the talking, its time to act. The perpetrators of this act of 02-06-2016 will soon be roaming the streets again and we say there is law and equity. Note that NIGERIANS are watching to see the outcome of this matter. Round pegs be better put in round HOLES.
    GOD BLESS NIGERIA.
