Niger Delta Avengers’ website goes down

The official website of militant group, Niger Delta Avengers – www.nigerdeltavengers.com – appears to have been shut down.

The militant group has carried out back-to-back attacks on oil and pipeline installations in the Niger Delta, in the past few weeks.

The group often publicises its attacks and spreads its message through the website, its Twitter and Facebook pages.

Since Saturday night, the group’s website has been unavailable.

A visitor to the site would get the error message, “404. That is an error. The requested URL was not found on their server. That’s all we know.”

The last post on the website which was launched in February, was a clarion call to all militants, urging them not to kill neither soldiers nor oil workers in their quest to cripple oil production in the country.

It is however, unclear Whether the website was deliberately shut down by the militant group to avoid detection or if the country’s security agency brought it down.
