#BBNaija: So Efe wins the money… then what? | What the future holds for the top five finalists

Efe

by Tolu O

Because it has become clear that Efe will win the N25 million cash prize tonight, we’ve been pondering on where he will go from here and how he’ll fare with so much money and fame.

So yes, it’s already established, Efe will be a millionaire, maybe even a multi-millionaire. Rumour has it a Warri billionaire is set to give him double of what he wins on the show, we also reckon his state government will present him some monetary reward for strictly representing them on an international stage. Long story short, the money will multiply. Great stuff!

So what will happen after?

We do not know for sure but what we do know is this. There will be lucrative contracts, juicy deals, Efe will be the face of many brands – especially the local ones because he represents “real” and brands are quick to associate with such identities, he already pitched himself to them when he gave that campaign speech days ago, so he is mostly settled in that regard.

Will Efe follow the footsteps of Nigerians who have won past editions of Big Brother shows in Africa? Take Katung Aduwak, for example. He won the first ever Big Brother Nigeria ten years ago and although most of the young people who make up for the majority of viewers of this current BBNaija may not be familiar with the man Katung, he has gone on to do incredibly good for himself. Katung’s story is instructive; not everyone who emerges from a reality show will be in the limelight faking a good life, the background is okay too especially when you’re taking charge there. Katung is a Senior Manager at MTV Base and Senior Creative Director with Viacom Networks, and that is just as beautiful as it gets.

Moving on to Uti Nwachukwu, two-time Big Brother contestant and winner of Big Brother All Stars, this one chose the limelight and it’s worked for him. TV host, model and sometimes actor, he’s managed to stay on our screens and has considerably managed his fame well.

Big Brother Amplified winner, Karen Igho was waist-deep in controversy and negative publicity for so long after the show until she made a conscious effort to disappear and guess what? The rest of us moved on too. Now, she showed up in the Big Brother house last week with a truckload of advice and gained new respect from viewers.

What we’re saying essentially is this. If Efe wins tonight as we project, he has the power to choose where he goes from here and to write his own narrative. Fame is like liquor, if not properly managed. Will this mad love and noise get into Efe’s head or will he live his life completely based on logistics?

Money and fame aside, Efe Ejeba feels like the type who will set up a NGO for less privileged youths in his hometown just so he can help rewrite some of their stories, so yeah, he’ll invest in charitable work. Will Efe drop a hit rap track? LOL! Yes, he probably will drop a few tracks but we’re not sure if they’ll be classified as hit songs. Maybe if he takes on another genre that is not rap.

After all said, we wish Efe the very best as he begins this journey to intense public attention.
