These are the top 10 stories that drove conversation today.

  1. Osinbajo meets with Northern, Igbo leaders

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo met with Northern and Igbo leaders over an ultimatum issued by Arewa youths asking Igbos living in the region to leave.

In the meetings, Osinbajo said the Federal Government will deal with anyone or group of people who attempts to disrupt the peace of the country.

2. CCT discharged charges against Saraki

The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CBT) discharged Senate President, Bukola Saraki, saying there is no case by the prosecution against him.

The Tribunal said the evidence not substantial to continue with the case.

Four prosecution witnesses and 48 exhibits, 18 counts of false assets declaration and money laundering were filed during hearing of Saraki.

3. More details about the exploits and arrest of billionaire kidnapper, Evans emerges

The Nigerian Police released more details into how billionaire kidnap baron, Chukwudemeje George Onwuamadike known as Evans, was arrested.

Leader of the IGP team, Abba Kyari, who was tracking the location of Evans and his gangs had planned to round them up together but his plans failed as he was always changing locations.

The suspect also claimed he was once kidnapped by another gang who later released him.

4. Dino Melaye vs Yahaya Bello

Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello and Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye were at each other’s throats.

Melaye had earlier alleged that Bello was involved in the assassination attempt on his life as well as plans to recall him from the senate.

In an interview with state house correspondents, Bello described Melaye as a social deviant and a child who lacked parental care.

In an Instagram post, Melaye fired back describing Bello as a compound fool and a natural liar.

5. Jeff Sessions testifies before Senate

Attorney General Jeff Sessions testified before the US Senate Intelligence Committee on dealings with Russia.

6. Trump cancels Obama’s deal with Cuba

President Trump announced at an event in Miami said he would be effecting changes in U.S. foreign policy toward Cuba effective immediately.

The President said he is rolling back former President Barack Obama’s steps towards normalization in U.S.-Cuba relations, “Effective immediately, I am canceling the last administration’s completely one-sided deal with Cuba”.

7. Aisha Buhari allegedly did not see the President in London

President Muhammadu Buhari was not allowed to see the first lady during her recent visit to the UK, reports have alleged.

The reports claim the information came from presidency sources affirming that the president has been kept away from several of his aides and even those bodyguards who supposedly traveled with him.

8. Russia claims to have killed ISIS leader Al-Baghdadi

The Russian Defense Ministry, Friday stated that the Russian airstrikes conducted on May 28, allegedly killed ISIS leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi south of Raqqa. Investigations are currently ongoing to verify the claims.

9. Hallelujah challenge

The Hallelujah Challenge which started as an idea is now the buzz on the internet with celebrities and other Nigerians talking about it.

10. Fayose wants to be Nigeria’s President

Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose said he would become Nigeria’s next President.

The governor spoke at a meeting with political office holders at the Government’s House, Ado Ekiti, where he also inspected Osoko Political Institute Centre.

Fayose who spoke confidently said he would take power from President Muhammadu Buhari.
