Bodies litter Baga streets as Boko Haram attacks again

by James Sambo

Thousands of people have been reportedly killed in a second attack on Baga, Borno, by insurgents of Islamic terrorist sect, Boko Haram.

On Saturday, January 3, the militants launched an assault on the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), in Baga, which forced the soldiers to abandon the military base.

According to the BBC, the militants carried out the second attack on Wednesday, January 7, stating that the terrorist burnt down almost the entire town.

Mr Bukar, a senior government official in the area, said the residents who managed to escape informed him that the town, which had a population of about 10,000, was now “virtually non-existent” and “has been burnt down.”

He revealed that the escapees stated that they had been unable to bury the dead, and corpses littered the town’s streets, adding that the sect was now in control of Baga and 16 neighbouring towns.
