Boko Haram is not restricted to the north-east – IBB

by Panshak Ibrahim

Erstwhile head of state, Ibrahim Babangida, has enjoined Nigerians against viewing the insurgency in the country as a northern problem.

Babangida said the insurgency is not restricted to the north-east, while also expressing his optimism in the capability of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to conduct the elections.

He made the comments in Minna on Saturday, February 14, while receiving the members of Arewa Citizens Action for Change.

He said: “I think people should not see the insecurity as restricted to North East alone; it is the problem of the entire country.”

“Nigeria is under insurgency not only north east. Nigerians should see it from that perspective and for that; they should support the Military to end the insurgency.”

Furthermore, Babangida noted that the election would be conducted peacefully, going by the arrangement on ground. He also implored INEC to improve in the dissemination of information in respect of Permanent Voter Cards’, especially on locations to collect them.
