Yesterday it was Kaduna. Today Damaturu, the capital of Yobe, is the city under siege.
Frightened residents of the city have locked themselves in their homes, following the barrage of gunshots and explosions which began at the Sabon Pegi area of the city and spread quickly to other areas.
Meanwhile, unknown gunmen on Sunday night shot and killed two persons in Gombe, the Gombe State capital. The incident occurred in Unguwan Jega Dafari area of Gombe township. The gunmen accessed the area through a narrow path to a place where people assembled after saying their last night prayer of the day.
On reaching there, they opened fire and killed two persons. One of the victims was a student while the other was a health worker. The attackers fled after carrying out the killings while the corpses of the victims have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre in Gombe.

A witness, who is in contact with PREMIUM TIMES narrates with fear the terror that has been unleashed on the state capital.
“I wish you can hear the sound, God!!!, still shooting ooo, they are coming closer,” he panics. The witness, who does not want his name mentioned, said the JTF operatives appeared to have been overwhelmed by the attackers, suspected to be members of the extremist Boko Haram sect.
The men are few and have been overwhelmed by the number of the attackers, he said
Another witness said he had heard more than eleven blasts.
According to him, gunshots have been going on since 5 p.m.
The witness says that the attackers are attempting to take over the government house, adding there was also an explosion at the Potiskum Prison, also in the state.
Attempts to reach the police failed.
