Simon Achuba sworn in as Kogi deputy governor

Following a letter forwarded to the Kogi state House of Assembly by the state governor, Yahaya Bello nominating Simon Achuba as his deputy, a confirmation has been given by the legislators.

Simon Achuba was sworn in as the Deputy Governor of Kogi State subsequent to the confirmation of his nomination by Yahaya Bello for the position.

Achuba, shortly after the House approved his nomination was sworn in as Deputy Governor of the state in a quiet event at the banquet hall of the Government House in Kogi.

Although journalists were not allowed into the swearing in ceremony of the new deputy governor, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Alhaji Momoh-Jimoh Lawal verified that the endorsement was in response to a letter from the governor nominating Achuba and looking for the approval of the legislator for him to be confirmed as his deputy.

He further revealed that the approval of is in compliance with Section 191 (3) (c) of the 1999 Constitution (As Amended) which provided for the position of a Deputy Governor.
