Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun and the Minister of Budget and Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma, will soon be invited by the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee, to explain the inconsistencies, errors in the 2016 budget proposal.
The committee would also invite Godwin Emefiele, Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Accountant General of the Federation and Director-General of Budget Office of the Federation.
The House of Representatives committee is expected to hold a special session with the government officials, who will quizzed on the allegations of budget padding as well as series of errors discovered when ministers and heads of departments and agencies defended their budgets.
Abdulmumin Jibrin, Chairman, House Committee on Appropriations, announced the development on Thursday.
“Since by tomorrow (today), we will finish taking the reports, we have agreed that we will invite the Minister of Budget and Planning, Minister of Finance, Accountant-General of the Federation, Director of Budget Office and Central Bank Governor and engage them extensively on the entire budget.”
“We also have pending issues on the 2015 budget, so they have to come with 2015 budget performance and then we will go into special session.”
