As we build up to the summer break in Nigeria, on the 28th – 30th of July, Oniru is set to become a different city inside Lagos. While this city is going to have its own bureau de change for the 72 hours it is going to be in existence, its magic is going to be in the music. For three days, the ‘City of Friends’ is going to have non-stop music with DJ Neptune, DJ Lambo and DJ Snoop Da Dameja all billed for the fun filled weekend.

‘City of friends’ is founded on the same principles as the United Nations’ World Friendship Day to promote solidarity, mutual understanding, and reconciliation especially among Nigerians in this time when it is somewhat hard to be a Nigerian.

‘City of Friends’ is hoping to be a Coachella-like event in Nigeria and while it’s only in Lagos right now, we hope the organizers of the event are looking to expand to other cities in Nigeria. While the success and appeal of Coachella might be difficult to achieve in this first event, it will definitely become a music destination of its own in years to come.

The event boasts a free entry policy for everyone into the city and will be looking to becoming the biggest non-stop party in Nigeria. Nigerian music icons Femi Kuti, 2Baba and MI Abaga will be headlining the weekend. Seyi Shay and Cynthia Morgan will also rock the stage with their supreme vocals. Flavour, Phyno, Wande Coal and Orezi are also lined up. Industry newcomer, Small Doctor will probably be the most sought-after artiste on the line up as he is currently making waves in the music industry.
