New developments indicate Luis Suarez could see his four-month ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini reduced.

The new Barcelona striker was banned for nine international games and suspended for four months from “any football-related activities” by FIFA, after the incident at the World Cup in Brazil.

His initial appeal was thrown out and after he completed his move to the Nou Camp, the Catalans were unable to unveil him because of the ban.

This prompted the La Liga side to take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and a source has told Goal that his four-month ban could be reduced, so that he can feature in Barca’s first league game.

“Now that the case has arrived at CAS, it is very likely that we will reduce the penalty,” the source confirmed.

“The ban would only apply to the Uruguay national team and not to Barcelona.”
