Saraki’s detained aide finally released by DSS

An aide to the Bukola Saraki, the Senate President has been released from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) almost a month after he was arrested and detained.

Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere who is the Senior Special Assistant to Saraki as well as the President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in a statement issued in Abuja faulted the government for intimidating him with detention because his views on issues affecting the country are different from that of the ruling power.

He however, stubbornly insisted that he will continue to stand by his views when the need arises for it, notwithstanding the persecution.

He said, “I vowed to continue the struggle and defense of my views on National development despite the fact that I was arrested and detained,” the statement said.

The youth leader revealed that he was treated inhumanely by the DSS during the period of his illegal incarceration and was denied access to his family, lawyer and medical attention.

He maintained that he posed no threat whatsoever to national security and was committed to protecting the interests of all Nigerians even as the President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria.

“In the last one month that I was detained, I was denied access to my personal lawyers, doctors and my family and I want to say that I am committed to the interests of Nigerians even as I posed no threat to the nation’s national security,” he said.
