Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, has said that new Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal, can forget about winning the Premier League in his first season.

There has been a lot of expectations at Old Trafford among United fans, since Van Gaal was confirmed as David Moyes’ replacement.

Although Ancelotti praised the appointment of the Dutchman, he warned the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager, that working in England is completely different.

“He is a very good and very experienced manager, he has fantastic experience and he will do a fantastic job at United,” the Italian, who won the league with Chelsea in 2010, said. “He is a manager who has nothing to learn.

“After Sir Alex Ferguson, it was more difficult for United, but they now have to rebuild a team.

“They have signed good players, but building a team is not easy and the Premier League is a very competitive league.

“It will not be easy to win in the first year, because there are many competitive teams who want to win.

“It’s also not easy to implement a new system. It is important that the player is convinced, but it is difficult to say how long it will take.”

Ancelotti, who led Real Madrid to their 10th Champions League trophy, was a hot favourite to replace Moyes, but remained diplomatic when asked about the United job.

He said: “These are rumours that usually happen, but I am at a fantastic club. I have lots of respect for United, but I am happy here and I think they have made a good chance in Louis van Gaal.”
