EPL Roundup: Man City batter Stoke City, Crystal Palace “surprise” Chelsea, other scores of the week

The English Premier League continued today – the 8th week – starting with the big match, Liverpool and Manchester United.

Contrary to speculations, the unbeaten run of the Red Devils continued with a goalless draw at Anfield.

At the end of the match, United’s manager, Jose Mourinho said, “In the first half, we had a couple of very good chances and had control of the game. But the opposition were also good today.”

United’s neighbours and closest title contenders, Manchester City did not waste time in the first half of the match against Stoke City, scoring thrice in the first half, where only one was returned in the 44th minute.

Pep Guardiola’s men, however, demolished Mark Hughes’ men in the second half – the game ending 7-2.

Crystal Palace, in a very surprising outcome, beat last season’s Champions, Chelsea, 2-1; making it their first win of the season.

The last game of the week, Watford vs Arsenal ended 2-1, with Per Mertesacker scoring for the Gunners – after 1,400 days.

Troy Deeney, however, equalised for his side in the 72nd minute from the penalty spot, and Tom Cleverly sealed the three points for them.

Other scores:

Burnley                           1 – 1                West Ham United
Swansea City                 2 – 0               Huddersfield Town
Tottenham Hotspur     1 – 0               AFC Bournemouth
