Gbajabiamila’s loyalist has sold-out and is considering Dogara’s deal

Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, a supposed loyalist of former House of Representatives Minority Leader,  Femi Gbajabiamila, appears to have broken ranks.

Ado-Doguwa went against the position of his group, to reveal that he was considering the offer made to him to become the Majority Leader of the House as a possible solution to the leadership crisis in the House of Representatives.

Speaker, Yakubu Dogara had against the wishes of the All Progressives Congress, contested and defeated Gbajabiamila, in the leadership elections.

Consequently, the House became factionalised with one group supporting Dogara and another supporting Gbajabiamila.

The APC had subsequently advised that Gbajabiamila be made Majority Leader, but Dogara insists that the South-West cannot have two leadership positions in the green chamber.

To break the ranks of the Gbajabiamila-led group, Dogara has now made an offer to Ado-Doguwa, who is from the North-West.

Ado-Doguwa revealed this while speaking to Punch Newspapers at the National Assembly.

He said: “I consider this offer good if it is genuine; the Speaker (Yakubu Dogara) has given the assurances that he is ready for peace to prevail in the House.

“This offer, to my mind, is a good gesture and we can work with it – given the assurances by the Speaker,” he stated.

“I am just expressing my own view on this matter; that we have to accept this offer so that we can move ahead. I believe that the general opinion of Nigerians is that this crisis has dragged on for too long and we should end it and allow the government to move on.”
