FG suspends FUTA, FUNAAB VCs

The Federal Government has suspended the Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Adebiyi Daramola on Thursday.

Daramola was suspended alongside the registrar, Modupe Ajayi.

Daramola and the institution’s bursar, Emmanuel Oresegun had been dragged to court for alleged mismanagement of funds by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The FG also suspended vice-chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture (FUNAAB), Olusola Oyewole over criminal charges.

A letter signed by acting permanent secretary in the ministry of education, Hussaini Adamu stated that both VCs should hand over to the next most senior officer.

“Sequel to your arraignment before an Ogun State High Court on Criminal charges by Economic for Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) on Monday, 24th November 2016, I am directed to convey the Honourable Minister’s approval to place you on suspension from office with immediate effect pending the determination of the Court case against you in accordance with extant rules,” the letter read.

“You are therefore directed to hand over the affairs of your office to the most senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor in the university.”
