Following the sharp increase in fuel price and the removal of fuel subsidy, the Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has called on Nigerians to remain calm, saying the supply of petroleum products will improve.
According to a statement released by the Kaduna state government house, the Governor stated that: “The Kaduna State Government wishes to appeal for calm. It commends the people for the orderly response to the fuel price adjustment by the Federal Government, and requests their continued patience for the supply of petroleum products to improve.”
El-Rufai, a prominent member of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), was a leading voice in the Occupy Nigeria protest of 2012, and had participated fully in the protest against fuel subsidy removal that year.
El-Rufai was a vocal critic of the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
