Acting Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate for the state’s October 11 bye-election.
The party’s primary election which ended in the early hours of Sunday, saw Fintiri rack up a total of 624 votes, while his closest rival, Ahmed Modibbo scored 197 votes.
Other recorded votes include; former military administrator of Lagos and Borno states, Buba Marwa, with 54 votes, Umar Ardo – 9 votes and Jerry Kumdisi – 4 votes. 25 votes were declared invalid.
Fintiri thanked the delegates for voting him while he urged his rivals in the contest to rally round him for the party to emerge victorious in the October 11, 2014 poll.
The primaries which started on Saturday afternoon lasted throughout the night and was concluded around 4:00 am on Sunday.
