The cabal in the presidency has been accused of stopping President Muhammadu Buhari from going to the United Kingdom to seek further treatment despite the deteriorating status of his health.

According to online news medium, Sahara Reporters, Buhari’s health has become so bad that he has to be fed intravenously as he has had severe difficulty eating and drinking fluids for several days.

Sources in the presidency reveal that the president’s challenge with eating and drinking has made him very weak, making it difficult for him to leave his official residence at the Aso Rock Villa to attend any official functions.

They disclosed that Buhari’s health was fine few weeks after he returned from his medical vacation in the United Kingdom, but that things have not been the same in the last few weeks as his condition was deteriorating.

Buhari has missed the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting for three weeks in a row. According to sources, the President could not attend last Friday’s Juma’at prayers because he had to undergo urgent medical treatment that had him confined to a medical room secretly set up inside the residential area of the villa.

Over the weekend, the president was also conspicuously absent from the wedding of his influential personal aide, Tunde “Idiagbon” Sabiu in Kaduna.

According to reports, Buhari’s British doctors have visited the Villa to attend to his needs. But the medical team advised the president to immediately return to the United Kingdom to begin what they described as a slow, complex and long-term treatment that could prolong his life.

Sources in the presidency say the cabal holding Buhari down are doing so because they believe another trip to the UK will make them lose political influence. The president’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari has been named as the soul of the cabal, which also includes Mamman Daura, the president’s kinsman.

However, the team’s advice was ignored despite reports that the Presidency weeks ago had sent an advance medical team to the UK to prepare for Buhari’s arrival for treatment. The report has since been denied by the presidency.

The cabal a few weeks ago frustrated another planned trip for the president, according to sources.

They said that members of the Presidency’s advance team were once again issued with fresh tickets to travel via Ethiopian Airlines, with the plan that Buhari would depart to the UK on April 15th 2017 for a four-month-long medical sojourn.

The news medium says that though the presidency is yet to tell Nigerians the nature of Buhari’s illness its findings shows that in addition to prostate issues, the president is also affected by Crohn’s disease, a medical condition that has affected his digestive system.

The disease has reportedly had a devastating effect on the president because of his age, 74. Buhari’s health has left him looking gaunt, emaciated, feeble and debilitated.

One of the sources in the know about President Buhari’s condition alleged that there was a massive cover-up orchestrated by a few aides and cronies to fool the Nigerians.

“They feel that if he [President Buhari] travels abroad, they will lose the power and influence they wield when he is town,” the source said. However, the source said the cabal was being myopic and shortsighted, as their refusal to allow the president to seek treatment abroad was only hastening his demise.

The sources say the cabal are set in their plans to plunge the country into a political crisis to protect their selfish interests.
