‘I can bring the naira back to normal within a month’ – Ifeanyi Ubah

Ifeanyi Ubah, Chairman of Capital Oil and Gas has revealed that the cause of the free-fall of the naira as against the dollar is not as a result of the activities of the Bureau De Change (BDC) operators.

Speaking on Channels TV, Ubah noted that if only President Muhammadu Buhari would consult him, he has the business acumen and plan to bring the naira back to about N200 to a dollar in the space of a month.

“Look at the economy, look at the position of the naira today; some of us have ideas on how we can restore this. Do you know how many Burea De Change people who food has been taken out of their families because of this? If you say they are the ones causing it, then where are you today?”

“It needs strategic management. It won’t take me one month, if you give me part of that consultancy, naira would come back to 200. I can bet my life with it, naira would come back to N200. If you call me for that consultancy, I would put naira back to 200.”

A confident Ubah however, did not reveal how he intends to achieve this feat if called upon. He simply said: ‘Don’t worry, that’s my business and business is secret.’

Ubah also denied the allegations leveled against him in respect to the alleged rigging of Ekiti state governorship elections by Governor Ayodele Fayose.

To buttress his point, he described Fayose as a stingy governor who is not helping other people who have helped him.

“Ayo is a stingy governor, he is not helping people that helped him, But the issue is this, I did not, if I have done, I would say I did it. Even those ruling us today, didn’t people give them money?”

Ubah, who is also the deputy director of the Peoples Democracy Party (PDP) mobilisation team, also denied receiving any part of the largesse allegedly shared by the  former national security adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki.

Ubah who is the owner of Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) further stated that TAN did not receive any money for its campaign for Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 presidential election. He revealed that the group campaigned to better the lot of Nigerians and for posterity.

“I’m a politician with a mindset of making life worth living for the people when issues seem to be getting out of hand. So TAN has no hand in whatever that has to do with the arms deal fund.”

He did not rule out TAN working for President Muhammadu Buhari in the future as he revealed that nobody dictates to the group.
