‘I am now an IDP’ – Salkida

Freelance journalist Ahmad Salkida on Wednesday declared himself as an Internally Displaced Person (IDP).

Salkida who has accused the Federal Government of ruining his life and rendering his family homeless made the disclosure via his Twitter account.

Speaking on the issue, Salkida on Tuesday accused some government officials of being against him, saying the Boko Haram insurgency had its effect on him directly.

He said, “Some overzealous officials are hell bent on looking for anything to use against me, there is nothing beyond my reporting, I’m not the problem.

“My knowledge is a consequence of a decade-long reportage on a crisis in my native land, it’s not about complicity, it’s consistency.

“I’m from Borno, I grew up there, I reported for several newspapers from there, the #BH story is not just a beat to me, it affects me directly.

“You can take away my rights and call me disparaging names, but you can’t take away my knowledge of the biggest story in my native land.”
