Former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose,  has complained that while he was  arraigned for alleged fraud by the EFCC, he was dehumanised by officials of the Nigerian Prison Service.

On Monday, Fayose told a Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti during a testimony in a suit he set up at the court over alleged infringement on his fundamental human rights.

Fayose listed the Comptroller General of Prisons as a defendant in the suit and told the court that he was transported by prisons officials from Ikoyi Prison to Ado-Ekiti in his boxer underpants.

He painted a very humiliating picture in court claiming he was forced to travel even though he was ill and held the position as former governor.

The Vanguard reports:

The plaintiff, who was represented by  Mr Owoseni Ajayi, also said the prisons  authorities refused to grant him bail after he  met the conditions granted him by Justice Tijani Abubakar.

Ajayi, however, sought an adjournment from the court to enable him present his witnesses.

The defense counsel, Mr A. Foelong, did not oppose the application for adjournment by Ajayi.

The trial judge, Justice Adamu Hobon, granted the application of Ajayi and adjourned the case till May 30 for further hearing.
