Why Ibrahim Lamorde may be in his final days as EFCC Chairman

EFCC boss, Ibrahim Lamorde, to be investigated by EFCC | YNaija.com

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Lamorde, may not get a second tenure on the job.

Lamorde, whose integrity has been called to question, will complete his four-year term in November.

Lamorde was named acting chairman of the commission on November 23, 2011, by former President, Goodluck Jonathan, after the sack of Farida Waziri.

Punch reveals that President Buhari may have made up his mind not to renew Lamorde’s tenure, over the perception that the EFCC has been far from active in the last few years.

“The impression is that the commission under Lamorde has been sleeping since. Their recent publicised activities are seen as just ways of impressing the President and the man (Buhari) cannot be fooled.”

Also, the fact that Lamorde is being investigated over allegations of diversion of over N1tn from the sale of properties seized from former governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreye Alamieyesiegha and a former Inspector-General of Police, Tafa Balogun, and many others.

George Uboh had made the allegation against Lamorde, when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions on August 23.
