The Queen on The Spirit of Chartwell during the Diamond Jubilee Pageant on the River Thames in London
The Diamond Jubilee took place between June 2–5 2012, marking 60 years of The Queen’s reign.
The Queen came to the throne on February 6 1952 (her Coronation took place on June 2, 1953).
A number of events and initiatives took place to mark this extraordinary year including a ride down The Spirit of Chartwell during the Diamond Jubilee Pageant on the River Thames, a cultural night Jubilee Pageant at Windsor Castle and a musical concert organised by Gary Barlow of Take That fame at the Buckingham Palace ; see photos here.
