Including us as part of Biafra is an insult – Igala group

The Igala socio-cultural group has said the inclusion of the Igala people as part of Biafra was as a result of ignorance of history and mischief.

At a press briefing in Lokoja on Wednesday, the group said including Igala as Biafra agitators was insulting and provocative.

“It is therefore unthinkable to annex the Igala kingdom without consulting us. Probably this may be due to the erroneous belief that Igala kingdom is a clan thus not important to consult the people of the great Igala kingdom before being annexed as part of the agitation.

“This is against the spirit of fairness, sovereignty, equity, peaceful cohabitation and democracy to forcefully and falsely claim that a great kingdom as the Igala kingdom, which was never defeated in any war is part of Biafra” they said.

The group said every Nigerian citizen has the constitutional right to freely live where ever such an individual or group chooses.

  1. the igala social cultural group may right in One Direction but on the other side may be wrong to say that it is an insult to who? is it to the people of igala as a kingdom or as social group. we have to tread with caution the way we react to issues that concern the generality of people.
