After all the fanfare about the call to recall Dino Melaye in June, many must have wondered if as expected the case had just quietly died.
But surprisingly, the court which stalled Melaye’s recall process upon Mr. Melaye’s request ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to continue with the recall.
The news was received by many Nigerians as a welcome development, lauding the court with praises for its action, and expressing their opinion on the matter on social media.

But now that the mantle has been handed back to INEC, another question arises: will INEC successfully see the recall of Dino Melaye through to the end?
Five hours into a poll by Twitter user, Kemi Ariyo, the results show that 59% (of a total of 121 voters) are optimistic that INEC will be successful in recalling the senator, while 41% are certain it will ‘never’ happen.
You think kogi with the help of INEC will successfully recall Senator Dino Melaye?

After Kenya’s successful annulment of a presidential election – the first of its kind in the country – a recall of a senator in Nigeria seems more within the realm of possibility.
With the court’s go-ahead and an alleged 188,588 signatures of Melaye’s constituents asking for his recall, the ball now lies in INEC’s court. And definitely, Nigerians are patiently watching and waiting.
