[The Injustice Blog] Is corruption fighting back again?

corruption

One of the  maxims that emerged from the Buhari Presidency at the earliest stage of his administration was the term ‘corruption is fighting back” this was coined as a response to accusations of lopsidedness of the “Buhari anti-corruption war” which is yet to change since then.

The Minister of information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed who has coined many words in his official capacity as the Minister of information was also responsible for the first usage of the word until it became stale to the perceived failure of a non existent “anti-corruption war”.

However, recent happenings in the polity may shows that truly, corruption is now fighting back in a massive way. The irony of this fighting back is that the APC government is indirectly fighting its own anti-corruption campaign.

What could have been a big break for the EFCC failed on Tuesday 21st November 2017 all thanks to another sister agency the Directorate of State Services (DSS) headed by another APC member. The two organisations reporting to the President has decided to make a mockery of themselves at the detriment of the image of the Presidency and our global outlook in the committee of nations around the world.

The EFCC had gone to arrest the duo of Ambassador Ayo Oke former Director General NIA who has failed to honour the invitation of the EFCC as it relates to the “ikoyi-gate” scandal involving him and his wife. Another dramatis personae was Ita Ekpenyong former Director General of the DSS. Both men were to be arrested on Tuesday but their arrest was prevented by the DSS for unknown reasons.

This act which is not the first in the series of high profile tussles between the DSS and the EFCC was a clear case of corruption fighting back within an administration “committed” to total eradication of corruption in Nigeria.

The DSS and EFCC have done more damage to the Buhari Presidency anti-corruption campaign irrespective of what they might think.
