[The Injustice Blog] Nigerian Senators and Yahaya Bello are just “Two sides of a Coin”

The precarious situation in Kogi under the leadership of a man that has made a mockery of Governance in the confluence state is one that stands out in its class of ineffective leaders we have around.

Yahaya Bello is the worst example of Governors we have in Nigeria. At every forum, he has brandished himself as the youngest Governor in Nigeria but he has forgotten such title comes with responsibility and not frivolity.

He has courted more controversy than any Governor in recent times, if he is not fighting with labour leaders in the state, he will detain journalists for reporting his ineptitude or converting public access road into his personal route as he has done in Okenne.

Coming to salaries, he is not the only Governor owning salaries in Nigeria. That must be pointed out. But why is his case different? his case is different because he has chosen to lie about the state of things in his state without bearing in mind that journalists will surely make their independent findings of such issue.

He has insisted on not owing any worker in the state. What about the striking workers? They are political civil servants, he says.

The unfortunate death of a Director in the state civil service that committed suicide recently made another exposé as the state claimed to owe the man for eleven months which has contravened its earlier stand of not owing any worker.

While this was going on, the brigandage group of individuals at the red chambers parading themselves as senators decided to donate 1,300 bags of rice to Kogi.

However, the truth is that there is no difference between Yahaya Bello and the Senators. They are both profiting from taxpayers sweat, they get paid humongous salaries and allowances for doing little or nothing. They earn hardship allowance when their earnings are generated in form of tax paid by Aminu the meat seller at Sabon Gari market and Chinedu at Onitsha market that are withstanding the highest form of hardship in making their sales.

Kogi workers need to know the senators are not their saviours as they are not better than the Yahaya Bello they have with them. The rice merchants at Abuja and the “New direction” man with them are both partners in robbing them of their common wealth.

They might have come as saviour through their rice but they must not fall for this. They are both political elites that want to profit from their sufferings.
