Mushin to MoHits to Mavin – Who’s excited about the new Don Jazzy label?!

by Lekan Olanrewaju

It’s quite the exciting start to a week if we ever saw one! After the seemingly never-ending saga regarding the Mo’ Hits break up, top Nigerian producer Don Jazzy has announced the launch of his new label, Mavin Records. The label has on board former Mo’ Hit’s all-stars Wande Coal, D’Prince and Dr Sid as well as none other than Tiwa Savage. Wow. Can’t say we saw that one coming.

“I know that there are questions unanswered, mysteries unsolved and wounds to heal,” the producer said. “But I would really appreciate if we allow time to heal the wounds for us all instead of digging them up again.”

According to his reps, the founder and CEO of the new label has spent the last three weeks locked in the recording studio along with the fellow “Mavins” as they finalise plans for their debut compilation album, Solar Plexus, released 8th May. The album has been a collaborative labour of love which has traversed five countries. In the same vein as the previously released Curriculum Vitae by the Mo’Hits All Stars, Solar Plexus will exclusively showcase the musical talents of the Mavin Records crew.  The renowned sound mixer, James ‘LeRock’ Loughrey, was one of several international collaborators used in perfecting the sound of the album and has predicted that the album will be “huge.” Work is also at various stages for all the individual solo albums with release dates to be announced soon.

We’re excited about Solar Plexus dropping from the label on 8 May. Oh wait, that’s just tomorrow!

Message from Don Jazzy
I see Mavin Records being the power house of Music in Africa in the shortest possible time. I know Rome wasn’t built in a day but with a lot of hard work, a good and God fearing team, our friends and fans, TV houses, radio stations, press, bloggers and most of all with God on our side, there is nothing we cannot achieve.
I definitely won’t forget my past because I wouldn’t be where I am today without it. I know there are questions unanswered, mysteries unsolved, wounds to heal but I would really appreciate if we allow time to heal the wounds for us all instead of digging them up again.
I love and respect the press and bloggers a lot and believe they will play a major role in healing our wounds and allow the forward movement. I would love to thank everyone that contributed in making Mohits records as successful as it got. We wouldn’t have done it without you all. The love and support you have given us thus far is definitely not in vain.  You all helped create international superstars and none of us will let you down.

It is going to be a very exciting journey from here. I can’t wait to show you guys all we have planned for you all. We have some other Mavins that are not activated yet still under construction that I’m positive you are going to love. Please open up your hearts, lend us your ears, give us your love and support as always and let’s continue to entertain you. Please don’t forget to visit. www.mavinrecords.com and join the fan club “MAVIN LEAGUE” for exclusive news, music and gifts.

  1. Very nice o. I know this would be a success. I can't help but ask though. Is it "mavIn" or "mavEn"? Cuz the dictionary spells it as "mavEn" which means expert.
