JUST IN: Appeal Court sacks Rivers lawmaker

INEC

The Abuja Court of Appeal on Thursday sacked a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly representing Opobo/Nkoro Constituency, Andrew Miller of the All Progressives Congress who was declared winner of the Rivers rerun on March 2016.

The Justice Ibrahim Saulawa-led panel ordered INEC to issue a certificate of return to Diri Adonye of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The Rivers State election tribunal had earlier affirmed the election of APC and Miller but the Appeal Court said the rerun was ‘massively rigged’ in favour of the APC.

The PDP contended that the figures were inflated in favour of the APC and its candidate.

The panel said figures were fraudulently altered across the 11 wards in the Opobo/Nkoro Constituency of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
