Five lawmakers belonging to the anti-Amaechi group are said to have impeached the Speaker, Otelemaba Amachree and replaced him with Evans Bipi.
According to reports, a fight broke out this morning at the Rivers State House of Assembly with some lawmakers injured and taken to hospital when hoodlums and some members reportedly attacked principal officers of the House with an assortment of weapons.
But in new reports, Amachree dismissed the allegations that he had been impeached.
Amachree, spoke after he presided over a session of the House and said there was no way five members could impeach principal officers of the state House of Assembly.
