“Let’s work together” | Senator Bernie Sanders says he’s ready to collaborate with President Trump

Earlier in the week, President Trump invited all US Senators to a reception at the White House. The event had Senate Minority leader, Chuck Schumer among others in attendance. Former Presidential aspirant, Senator Bernie Sanders however decided to boycott the event. The senator appeared on CNN’s “Wolf” and was asked by Wolf Blitzer about the reason for his absence at the event. In his usual fashion, he didn’t hold back, as he used the opportunity to pass a direct message to President Trump.

He said: “…because I’m not into social events. If the President is serious about dealing with Health Care, if he serious about dealing with the high cost prescription drugs, let’s work together. I don’t want to sit around just blabbering and talking about the weather, that’s not the way you get real work done. I have introduce legislation that will substantially lower the cost of prescription drugs in this country. ”

“The President has said he likes the idea, he campaigned on that idea…so let’s sit down and work on it. I don’t want to just talk. There is legislation out there…If he is prepared to say ‘Senator Sanders, I have seen your legislation on re-importation has 20 co-sponsors…if he said let’s sit down and work on that legislation, I’ll be there in 5 minutes, but I don’t want to do a photo walk with the President if we’re not going to go anyplace…”
