10 songs we want M.I to perform at #BuckwyldnBreathless and why

#BuckwyldnBreathless

The Lagos leg of the Buckwyld and Breathless concert featuring two music heavyweights – 2Baba and M.I holds tonight at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island.

While we gear up for the show tonight, we have picked out 10 songs we would like M.I to perform at the show.

  1. Anoti featuring Gabriel: Back in 2008, this was a banger and we are certain that in 2016, it will still get crowds singling line after line. It’s just that awesome.

This track from his debut album – Talk About It is so good that it’s always sounding like a ‘brand new jam’ giving a ‘brand new feeling’ every time. Trust us when we say this song cannot just go wrong.

2. Fast money and Fast Cars featuring Wizkid: There is no way this song should even be omitted off M.I’s set list for tonight.

This song is so significant because it was this track that made us aware of one of Africa’s biggest talents now – Wizkid. From the smooth chorus sang by Wizkid to the hard-spitting bars from Mr Incredible himself, this song is a crowd winner anytime.

3. Teaser feat. Pype – Talk about when rap met reggae, then you refer to this song from M.I’s Talk About It album. M.I combined effortlessly with Pype on this and it remains a wonderful blend of music.

4. Number One featuring Flavour: Off 2010’s M.I 2, Number One allowed M.I to declare himself Africa’s Number One rapper with Flavour singing his praises. This is one of the defining tracks of M.I’s career as he took over the east with this song.

In some way, this track promoted national unity as this was a rapper from from Jos getting easterners to listen to his music. This just goes on to show how M.I’s music transcended beyond cultural barriers. Believe us when we say Highlife and hip-hop has hardly sounded so good together.

5. One Naira featuring Waje: This Waje duet is one for the lovers. Back when M.I released this in 2010, hip-hop-love songs were usually not that successful but the dynamic duo nailed it and tonight, we would like to hear this song.

6. Action Film featuring Brymo: M.I himself knows there is no way he won’t perform this song. Even before M.I spits a line from this song, you certainly will be hearing cheers from the crowd. How we miss Brymo at Choc City!

7. Represent featuring Brymo, Jesse Jagz and Ice Prince: Just at the name goes, M.I and his chocolate city folks represented on this song. Boy did they run riot on this song. Imagine a 2010 Choc City reunion on stage tonight. That would be epic.

8. Nobody featuring 2Baba: The synergy between these two didn’t just start today. It emanated from this collaboration in 2010 where the pair sang about their different experiences of life as a celebrity. It would be great to see 2Baba join M.I on stage to perform this song.

9. Bad Belle: With its trap-influenced sound, Bad Belle will surely get the crowd jumping out of their seats. Well it’s allowed!

10. Bullion Van featuring Runtown, Stormrex and Phyno: M.I dusts his Number One flow on this. However this time around, M.I tells you he has not only made a name but he also made lots of money from what he loves and he is ready to let his competition (if there are any) know that.

The easteners come through big time on this one in the form of Runtwon, Storm Rex and Phyno and they executed their parts brilliantly.
