Dino Melaye’s travails in the Senate took a new turn last week with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) serving the Kogi West Senator with the recall notice at his office in the National Assembly.
Melaye has made several attempts to frustrate the recall process by making himself unavailable for the documents to be served on him. On the day, the staff of the Commission visited his office, Melaye avoided them by running to his car.
Andrew Uchendu was finally sworn in as a senator by Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu. Uchendu replaced George Sekibo who was sacked by the election tribunal.
Another senator who made news in the week under review is the Senator representing Ondo Central, Omotayo Alasoadura. Alasoadura, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (upstream), alleged that he was offered millions of dollars as bribe to kill Petroleum Industry Governance Bill (PIGB).
