5th August, 2011 has been confirmed as the date for the Nigerian premiere of the highly publicized film ‘Mirror Boy’. Already generating a lot of buzz among Nollywood stakeholders and the media, speculations are high that the ‘Mirror Boy’ premiere will turn out to be another constellation of stars and celebrities.

The film was written, produced and directed by Obi Emelonye and features Nollywood’s finest – Genevieve Nnaji and Osita Iheme alongside other big names from the continent.

Highly passionate about the project, Genevieve, speaking at the London premiere confessed that it was the biggest premiere she had ever attended and is very proud to be part of the film. Osita Iheme said his role in the film was very challenging and he had no doubt the movie would be a hit.

‘Mirror Boy’ is an enthralling journey as seen through the eyes of a London-born 12year old African boy Tijani. After a street fight in which a local boy is hurt, Tijani’s mum takes him back to their roots in The Gambia.

On their arrival in Banjul, Tijani encounters a strange apparition, a boy smiling at him in a mirror and vanishing. This sets in motion, a chain of events. A cathartic climax helps him to unravel the mystery of the mirror boy.

The movie has already garnered 12 nominations from ZAFAA (Zulu African Film Academy Awards) in the following categories: Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Lead Actress (Genevieve Nnaji) and Best Actor (Osita Iheme) among others.

Director Obi Emelonye, speaking on the film said “I am really looking forward to the Mirror Boy premiere in Nigeria. It is a homecoming for Mirror boy and the amount of support and accolades we have been getting tells me I am not the only one excited about the movie. Nigerians are too.”
