Zimbabwean ruling party, ZANU-PF has sacked President Robert Mugabe as its leader and replaced him with his sacked Vice President, Emmerson Mnangagwa.

According to Reuters, the leaders of the party met on Sunday to take the decision.

The party also fired his wife, Grace Mugabe as head of the ZANU-PF Women’s League.

Patrick Zhuwao, Mugabe’s nephew, was reported to have said: “President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe and his wife Grace are ready to die for what is correct and have no intention of stepping down.”

Mugabe had refused to resign after a meeting with a South African delegation and the military.

The meeting came after he was placed under house arrest.
