Biafra secession: Niger Delta group, MOSOP join forces with MASSOB

The Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has said agreed to a partnership with a faction of Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People (MOSOP) to achieve the creation of a Biafran state.

According to MASSOB’s National Director of Information, Sunny Okereafor, the leader of the group, Solomon Chukwu assured that the people of the Niger Delta that they will be allowed to control their resources if Biafra was actualized.

Okereafor stated that the agreement to join forces was arrived at, after a meeting of the two groups in Gokana, Rivers State.

He said that the factional leader of MOSOP, Goodluck Freeman, led the Ogoni group delegation to the meeting, where he promised to partner MASSOB.

The MASSOB spokesperson quoted Freeman to have said that the Niger Delta people were looking for a platform to be liberated from the Nigerian state.

Okereafor quoted Chukwu to have said: “When Biafra is actualized, children of the Niger Delta and Ogoni would be given scholarship.”

“We assure the Niger Delta and Ogoni people from Rivers State that the Igbo do not hate them. The hatred story being bandied, but only exists in the minds of Nigerians who want to destroy the unity of the Biafran people.”
