Nigerian passenger causes panic over Ebola in Turkey

Earlier today, a Nigerian woman was placed under quarantine after having a fever while on a plane to Turkey from Nigeria.

The woman who was said to be pregnant and travelling with a child caused a bit of a panic in the plane as passengers feared she might be suffering from the dreaded Ebola virus.

She was, however, quickly placed under quarantine by paramedics working with the General Directorate of Health for Borders and Coasts as soon as the plane landed at the Ataturk Airport while other passengers were deplaned.

The aircraft was flying from Lagos to Istanbul, the capital of Turkey.

The press spokesman of Turkish Airlines, Ali Genç, has confirmed the incident via his Twitter account. “The plane has been disinfected as a precautionary measure,” Genç stated.

The virus is spread by direct contact with blood or bodily fluids from an infected person. It has killed over a thousand people in West Africa after the latest outbreak in February.
