Following the news that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) intends to give subsidy on foreign exchange to Hajj pilgrims, Nigerians have taken to social media to express their opinion on the decision by the CBN.
A vast majority of commentators condemned the decision of the apex bank, pointing out that it is a reckless, spendthrift move in this time of economic difficulties.
Are you aware that majority of Hajj Pilgrims will buy goods to sell on their return? @Mrskemiadeosun @cenbank pic.twitter.com/Hekbb2Ixud

Even God stated that "perform hajj if you have the means" meaning if YOU can afford it.

You're taking 65,000 people to Hajj?
You mean to say Nigerian govt can sponsor the whole of Benin Republic to Hajj?
We are great indeed.

Anyone who gov't pays for him/her to perform hajj is not recognized by God.You are to use your hard earned money to pay for hajj.

Hajj is made compulsory for Muslims that CAN afford NOT those that needs subsidy.
Leave Islam out of your outrage, kill Buhari if you CAN.

The solution really is for everyone to convert to traditional religions. No need for hajj or pilgrimage.

If this Hajj issue isn't a proof enough that the media is more powerful than the government I don't know what is. https://t.co/bhiWEccpXf

Recall the session with PMB at Protea Ikoyi. He mentioned religion is a personal thing.. decried subsidizing hajj or pilgrimage. But today?
— KD (@kunledee) August 5, 2016
Pilgrim buys $1k for 197,000.
Spends $500 during Hajj.
Comes back and changes what's left to 200,000.
Basically profits from Hajj.

With this Hajj issue, even atletico Madrid's defense wont be able to defend this government. Totally disgraceful
