Ondo Guber polls: Former NBA President emerges APC candidate

The former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Rotimi Akeredolu on Saturday emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming governorship election, defeating 24 other aspirants.

The primaries which was held at the International Event Centre, Akure saw Akeredolu score 669 votes from delegates.

Dr. Segun Abraham, who was allegedly anointed by national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu polled 635 while Chief Olusola Oke came third, scoring 583.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were present at the venue to monitor the exercise which was going well until a brawl between men of the Police Force and the NSCDC at the venue ensued.

It was gathered that the policemen allegedly confronted the NSCDC officers for refusing to stand up and salute whenever their (police) bosses were at the venue.

The confrontation led to a free-for-all with the security agents firing several canisters of tear-gas.

The crisis was later resolved following the intervention of the state Deputy Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, and some senior officers of the NSCDC.
