The latest edition of One Mic’s independence show took place at the swanky Browns Cafe in GRA Ikeja, Lagos and recorded an even bigger turn out than it had ever had before. Fans and people ready for a laugh came out to see the acts perform including Black Magic, Ex-O, MsChief, Rayce and the One Mic headliner, Shank!
This year, One Mic has seen the likes of Pope, Nikki Laoye, Praiz and more, grace the stage, and interact with their fans in the audience with sound backing from the One Mic band. This time around the audience were not disappointed either as one after the other; the hosts (Kel and KB) introduced each act.
There were intervals in between performances for the Open Mic segment where comedians, singers and rappers trooped out to compete for a chance to perform at the next One Mic show, as well as an opportunity to showcase their talents.
John won the Comedy Open Mic while Chris Nkwoji won a tightly contested Music Open Mic. Segun Bright, chief executive officer of ‘I Want Airplay’ presented Nkwoji with a pair of Beats by Dre ear-phones. Other prizes like perfumes (courtesy Signature Scents), tee shirts and magazines went to the runner up and other contestants. In all, it was a relaxing evening of lights, loads of cameras, and music action!
One Mic is a live artiste showcase that holds once in two months. The One Mic Naija programme is a WePlugGoodMusic initiative, powered by M.et.al and s.h.a.r.e. The October edition was proudly supported by I Want Airplay, Signature Scents, Top Radio, Net, Y! Naija, Debzine.com, abisona.com, Billboard Nigeria amongst others.
The next edition of One Mic comes up on December 18th and a stellar line up is already being planned.
