The 87th edition of the Academy Awards brought about a much more tighter security following the informal release of the controversial movie, The Interview.

Being the first time in many years at the Oscars that such would happen, the organizers were also concerned about the recent shootings in Europe, as well as the continuing fallout from the Sony hack.

The incident at the end of last year led to thousands of embarrassing internal emails being leaked, as well as threats by a group calling itself Guardians of the Peace to bomb any US cinemas which screened North Korean-baiting comedy The Interview.

The film, however, wasn’t nominated in any category.
