PDP founding fathers have just sacked Ali Modu Sheriff, Secondus, others

A new wave of crisis has hit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the founding members of the party have issued a communique for the sack of the interim National Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff as well as the National Working Committee.

The founding fathers, under the aegis of Concerned Stakeholders of the PDP decided to relieve the NWC as well as Sheriff of their duties in a meeting which held in Abuja.

The people present at the meeting were former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana; a former National Chairman of the party, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo; a former Minister of Education, Prof. Tunde Adeniran and a former Deputy President of the Senate, Ibrahim Mantu.

Also a former Minister of Women Affairs, who was also a former National Woman Leader, Haji Ina Ciroma; a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Bala Mohammed; a former Minister of Transportation, Ojo Maduekwe, a former Minister of Agriculture, Shetima Mustapha; a former Minister of  Police Affairs,  Maina Waziri and Chairman of DAAR Communications, Raymond Dokpesi.

The founding fathers, in sacking the NWC declared that a 21-member steering committee would manage the affairs of the party pending when elections would be conducted for the now vacant offices.

The names of the members of the committee were however, not stated even as the upcoming May 21 convention was disregarded by the long standing members of the party.

The communique read: “The steering committee will immediately put in place a National Reconciliation Committee to reconcile all previously aggrieved party members.

“We condemn the attempt by the illegal NWC of the party to amend the constitution of the party in order to muzzle and control the Board of Trustees and thereby subject the BoT to the villains and caprices of the NWC.”

Sheriff, having earlier said he is not bothered by the thoughts of the founding fathers, is unlikely to adhere to their directive. He had earlier declared that he would not be bothered if the founding fathers left the party.
