PDP won’t hold South-West Congress anymore

Following the ruling of a Federal High Court given by Justice Ibrahim Buba restraining the Peoples Democratic Party from going ahead with its scheduled South-West zonal congress, the party has announced that the congress will not hold.

The National Secretary of the party, Wale Oladipo, stated in an interview with Punch on Friday, May 13 that as a law abiding party, the PDP will not disobey the court order.

Oladipo revealed that the party had already recalled the officers sent to Akure where the congress was scheduled to hold.

“We are a law-abiding party,” he said. “I have been served the court order and as a respondent in the case, I’m telling you that we are not going to flout the order of the court.

“I’m also aware that the Independent National Electoral Commission will also not be at the congress.

“As a matter of fact, we are withdrawing our officers who have been sent to conduct the congress. We will stay action on it until the case if determined by the court.”
