Poem: In your new country

by Michael Ace

Biafrans, if you leave Nigeria, Nigeria will never leave you.

In your new country (when that imperious leader of yours finally wins)…

You will be enslaved by some set of people just like some of you now
worship Kanu. Your system will run under dictatorship because Biafra
belongs to Nnamdi Kanu and then other Igbos.

There will be division of tribes and geographical areas which will be
achieved by riot. Your leader has selfishly chosen his hometown as
capital though.

The rich among you will sit on your oil and make you buy it at a huge
price in litres. You will murmur and murmur and grumble but you won’t
be able to act. If you fight and kill yourselves, the world will laugh
at you. Remember.

Your economy will fight instability just like it happens in Nigeria.
Why? Because Igbo are naturally business minded and each and every
businessman among you will quest to dominate the market. That’s
competition. Unhealthy competition. Everyone will fight for their own
pocket.

Your government will strive for decades to achieve sovereignty but it
won’t happen in this generation. Nigeria government will indirectly
influence your decisions, corrupt your political parties and run some
crucial sectors of your economy.

I am no seer and no prophet but when a gang of armed robbers go for
operation, they unite. But when do they quarrel? When the deed is done
and the gain is to be shared. The frontiers in this battle won’t sit
and watch you eat the same handful of the national cake with them.
Equality is a capital NO.

So you see? Nigeria will never leave you.
