Pray for peaceful elections next year – Gov. Okorocha

by Nnamdi Akpa

Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha has urged Nigerians to use the
Christmas season to pray for peaceful conduct of the general elections in
2015.

Okorocha made the call in his Christmas message in Owerri on Wednesday.

He also urged Nigerians to pray for divine intervention over insurgency
that had claimed many innocent lives in the country.

He said the world was marking the birth of Jesus Christ whom he said
preached and ensured peace in the world.

Okorocha said emphasis on religion and ethnic divide was drawing the
country backward instead of moving her forward.

According to him, Nigeria would do better as a united nation than as a
polarised country and pleaded with the elite to stop fanning the embers of
discord, “because ordinary Nigerians have no problem with each other.”

He urged the people of Imo state to remain peaceful and loving.

He said the stories about the state would continue to be that of success,
development and progress.
