A recent update on the Wale Ajani SSS custody can confirm that the youth council leader has been released. “I was officially released yesterday around 11pm, but I came home this morning as I didn’t have access to my phones,” he said in a telephone conversation with YNaija.  Ajani who is planning a hunger strike tomorrow also confirmed that it is because of the rally against fuel subsidy removal he was arrested. “Of course it was because of the hunger strike I’m planning tomorrow I was arrested. They told me to call it off, but I said ‘God forbid bad thing!’”

He also told us that the SSS even denied detaining and questioning him for hours, after eventually being put under pressure to release him.

Despite his arrest, Ajani has confrimed that the planned hunger strike would still hold tomorrow,  11/11/11, Ajani will mobilise a group of spirited young people on the hunger strike. “I think I have even started mine because I haven’t eaten since yesterday,” he joked. “The strike tomorrow will still hold at Unity Fountain. We will get there and have some comrades charge us up. We will make our displeasure known and we have invited both local and international media to cover it.”

On the issue of security tomorrow, he said: “It will not be a march. We are going to be stationed there so we don’t cause traffic anywhere. We will sit there, network, sing victory songs and drink water when we’re tired.”

The news of his arrest went viral yesterday online after his plans to stage a hunger strike prostest against fuel subsidy removal was publsihed.
