Super Eagles’ captain Vincent Enyeama, has announced his decision to quit the national team.

Enyeama made the announcement on Thursday morning via his Instagram page.

Enyeama’s decision is coming less than 48 hours after his face-off with Sunday Oliseh, gaffer of the Super Eagles.

The Lille FC shot-stopper had on Tuesday, reported late to the Super Eagles base in Belgium after he took permission from Oliseh to bury his late mother who passed on in September.

Enyeama was later informed during the meeting that he had been stripped of the captaincy by his coach during a team meeting.

He asked for clarity on the situation and for an explanation behind the sudden change but he was reportedly ignored by Oliseh.

After he insisted on speaking he was told to leave the camp.

He blatantly refused and insisted on getting answers, after which an angry Sunday Oliseh asked security personnel to have him thrown out.

After the incident he said via his Instagram account:

It took the intervention of officials of the Nigeria Football Federation before the situation was doused and Enyeama was allowed to remain in the Eagles’ camp.
