Abdullahi Mairuwa, the head driver to Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Al-Makura was this morning assassinated by yet to be identified gunmen.
Mairuwa, who is the most senior of the Government House drivers, was said to been killed in the presence of his wife while travelling to his hometown in Keana local government area of the state.
The incident happened around 8:30am close to Tudun Adabu along the Obi-Keana-Awe road.
Premium Times quotes family sources as saying the gunmen told Mairuwa’s wife not to panic as they were there solely to harm her husband before shooting him twice in the chest.
Police spokesman, Umar Numan, confirmed the development, saying detectives have been drafted to the scene of the incident.
“We are aware and have mobilized to the scene to recover the corpse and we have already commenced investigation into the incidence,” he said.
