Sad news: IGI boss, Remi Olowude dies at 62

by Akan Ido

Industrial & General Insurance Company (IGI) Chairman, Remi Olowude is dead.

The 62-year-old businessman died in a hospital in the United States this morning after a protracted illness.

There is speculation that Olowude died of prostrate cancer but this is yet to be confirmed.

In an interview with the Punch Newspapers on his 60th birthday, Olowude spoke about his achievements in life saying, “In all honesty, I have achieved more than the things I projected for myself. All I wanted to do as the son of a librarian was to contribute to knowledge by writing books and getting my PhD.

“Unfortunately, I haven’t had enough time to write about my experiences — personally and in my field, economics and insurance, my later day calling. These are some of the things I hope to do in my later days.”

May his soul rest in peace.

  1. When he called me in August l did not know that would be the last time he would talk to me. A very kind man and one of the pillars of insurance industry in Nigeria. May his soul rest in perfect peace. The family should take solace in resurrection when we shall meet to part no more.

  2. Any news at all?
